Gas Volume

cf, Mcf, MMcf, Bcf, m³.

1 Mcf = 1,000 cf · 1 MMcf = 1,000 Mcf

In gas notation M = 1,000 (Roman numeral). So Mcf = thousand cf, MMcf = million cf, Bcf = billion cf, Tcf = trillion cf.

Understanding gas volume units

Natural gas volumes use a confusing notation where M stands for one thousand (from the Roman numeral), not mega. So Mcf = thousand cubic feet, MMcf = million cubic feet, Bcf = billion, and Tcf = trillion (used for reserves).

One cubic foot of gas equals about 0.0283 cubic meters. Use the converter to translate field measurements, pipeline nominations and reserve figures across all these units.
